Ipsy: April Review

Ipsy: April Review

I received my Ipsy bag on April 12.

When I first saw the wristlet online, I thought it was tacky. Why would anyone have a wristlet that looks like a carnival ticket? But then, when I actually received it in the mail, opened it and touched it, I changed my mind. The color is fun. The wristlet is different. At first, I thought it was tacky but now, I like how unique and different the wristlet is. The material is decent and feels soft. It’s easy to zipper the wristlet and I like how the color stands out. If I ever lose the wristlet, it won’t be hard to find since the color is so vibrant!

The items in my April bag are Ofra Cosmetics blush, Em Cosmetics Illustrative Eyeliner Brush Tip, Theorie Maurla Oil Tansforming Hair Serum, Adesse New York Cupuacu Butter Lip Balm, and PEEK Beauty Eye Will Stay Naturally Long Wearing Eye Shadow in 250k8.

I first used the Em Cosmetics Illustrative Eyeliner Brush Tip. I don’t know why but eyeliner brush tips/pens never work on my eyelids. I shook the brush tip and applied it on my eyelids, and I had a hard time trying to get the product to come out. When it did come out on my eyelids, the color was almost gray and I kept trying to push the product out to make a full cat eye look but it just wasn’t happening for me. It felt like a pen whose ink was running out and you have to shake it back and forth to get the ink out – that’s exactly how it felt when I used this eyeliner. After about five minutes of trying to apply the eyeliner on my eyelids, I gave up and decided to use an actual liquid eyeliner. I think this eyeliner pen is great for people who want a THIN line of eyeliner on their eyelids but it’s not for people who like having a dark dramatic cat eye look. I would give this a 2/10.

I used the Ofra Cosmetics blush and it was a very pretty color. It’s not too much for my skin, so it actually somewhat blended with my skin color – the blush gave me a more subtle look, which I didn’t mind! I love the color and I like how easy it was to apply the product and blend it. It wasn’t too heavy on my skin and it was easy to take off. It did last me for a few hours. It’s pigmented and I didn’t have much of a problem with this. I’d give this an 8/10.

I used the PEEK Beauty Eye Will Stay Naturally Long Wearing Eye Shadow in 250k8 and it was a shimmery color. I used the eyshadow plain and didn’t add any other colors and my sister was still able to see the color. She noticed I was wearing eyeshadow before I said anything. It’s great for people who want a more natural look, who don’t want a dramatic eye, or for just people who like a little shimmy in their lives. It’s a gorgeous light brown with shimmer on it and it dresses up the eye without it being too dramatic or too noticeable. It’s a great color for everyone and it lasted me throughout the day. A little shimmer never hurt nobody. I’d give this an 8/10.

I really loved using the Theorie Maurla Oil Tansforming Hair Serum. I have a dry scalp and very dry hair. My hair is damaged and frizzy and this serum helped to make my hair look alive. It makes my hair soft and less frizzy. It also makes my hair seem not too dry either. I was able to maintain my dry scalp and my frizziness. This definitely helps to make my hair feel soft and to look alive. I love using this and even my sister loved using it. Great for anyone with dry hair or “dead” hair, because this definitely helped to make my hair soft and alive. I’d give this a 9/10.

I finally used the Adesse New York Cupuacu Butter Lip Balm. It is what the name says – it’s a lip balm. It’s supposed to moisturize your lips which it did for me! It made my lips soft and moisturized. You can wear it as just is – there’s a little tint to it, a pinkish tint but it’s not too noticeable or dramatic, so good for a subtle look. Or you can use it as a primer and put a liquid matte lipstick on top! I did both and it made my liquid matte lipstick soft and not so drying! I tend to wear drying liquid lipsticks and this helped to make my lips soft and moisturized! I totally recommend this! 9/10.

So in general, I would give this month a 7/10!
