Velvet Dress

Velvet Dress

Even in the summer, I’ll still wear velvet.

One of my best friends invited me to his sister’s baby shower. My mom and my boyfriend all told me that my outfit was too inappropriate for the baby shower because my cleavage was showing. I completely disagree. I was told to dress nice because it was a formal event, so I did. My dress reached up to my knees and although the dress was pretty low cut, I don’t have big boobs so there really was nothing showing. I did have a couple nip slips, but in general, my hair covered my boobs because I let my hair down and they were able to cover my boobs entirely.

My dress was perfect for this night because it was somewhat cold outside and inside. At first, I was nervous about wearing this dress because I thought I would be sweating but thankfully, I didn’t. The material is thick, but then again, it’s velvet so what do you expect? I love the low cut of my dress and just how comfortable it was for me to wear it and move around. I also absolutely adore the color and think it’s perfect all year round. I didn’t think it was inappropriate for a baby shower but there were a lot of people undressed so to them, I was probably overdressed.

My heels – I am wearing these heels to my sister’s wedding on Saturday (August 12) so I decided to wear them to break into them to see if I could handle wearing them for 6+ hours. I sat down for the most part (haha) but in general, they weren’t too bad to wear so I think I will be fine for Saturday.

The theme of the baby shower was lavender so there was purple lightning. I couldn’t find a spot where the purple lighting didn’t hit me but for the most party, the decorations were gorgeous.

Do you guys wear velvet in the summer?

I love this dress on you!!! Whenever I wear a dress with a plunge necklace I use that double sided tape, or I also have a stick on plunge bra which is great!! I think its great that you wore what you wanted to wear and were confident about it! When I go to baby showers I dress more conservative like a stepford hahahah.
