Travel With Me To: Cape Elizabeth

Travel With Me To: Cape Elizabeth

Yes, another Maine post. Honestly, Maine is so underrated and I think there are parts of Maine that’s so beautiful and that everyone should see. Cape Elizabeth is definitely one of those places that many tourists come to visit. It’s near Portland, maybe about 10-20 minutes away.

Cape Elizabeth is a town in Maine. I think it’s popular for tourists but some parts of it is for private residents. We saw a lot of signs saying that it was for private residents and we didn’t want to risk anything so we didn’t “break the rules” and respected the sign and left.

Cape Elizabeth isn’t necessarily that small, or at least to me. We visited two different places in Cape Elizabeth and they were both to see the lighthouses – which is what Cape Elizabeth is practically known for.

Our Maine road trip back in August started off with Ogunquit Beach, Maine and then Old Orchard Beach and then, Cape Elizabeth. It wasn’t that busy when we went but that’s probably because we arrived there at around 9/10AM. I think if we went around noonish or even 2PM, there may have been more people. But from what we experienced, Cape Elizabeth isn’t a crowded place. You can take pictures without having to worry if you’re in someone’s way. You can explore the place, although some areas are for private residents. The lighthouses are beautiful, though. I don’t know if you can go INSIDE them, since we’ve never actually tried, but I think you might be able to if you know your way around.

I think we spent about two hours in Cape Elizabeth, just exploring the area and taking in everything we saw. It’s definitely a “very green town” as trees and flowers are everywhere. I’m actually a city girl so I don’t think I’d ever want to live in a place like Cape Elizabeth. It is beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but it’s beautiful to visit, not live at. The people in Maine are definitely nice. I think they knew we were lost since our car is from Massachusetts, so no one honked at us when we went the wrong way or changed our directions last minute.

We went to a park and took photos. It was pretty much a Cliff Walk where you can get your daily walk or walk your dogs, as I saw A LOT of cute dogs walking. Cape Elizabeth is very scenic, quiet and beautiful. It’s a great place to go to if you want to get away and relax, as there wasn’t that much traffic or tourists when we went, so I do recommend if you don’t want to go to a “touristy place.” You’re also by the water, but I would be careful doing the Cliff Walk, as some parts are very steep and if you walk too close to the cliff, you may fall. There are A LOT of huge rocks so if you were to fall off, those rocks won’t save you. So be careful!!

There are also “telescopes” where you can view the place at a closer angle. I think some were broken but they’re only 25 cents to use! I do recommend using them because I was able to get a closer view of everything and MY GOD, Cape Elizabeth is beautiful! I cannot stress that enough.

Parking was free when we went so that’s a plus! There’s designated parking for visitors and you can buy souvenirs at one of their local gift shops! I personally thought the park, Fort Williams, was really beautiful. I wish we had more time to explore since we only saw a fraction of the place. Hopefully, we’ll go back one day and just have a few hours to explore the entire park.
