Happy Vietnamese New Year!

And also, happy Lunar New Year!

For those of you who don’t know, I am Vietnamese. Both my parents were born in Vietnam and moved here to America. My family and I never really celebrated Vietnamese New Year when we were younger. We acknowledged it and my parents gave us money in those cute little red envelopes, but we never had a massive party. Some years, we attended parties and other years, we had people come over.

I am very happy and proud of my culture, heritage and where I’m from. My mom actually has plans to go back to our country this summer and I’m hoping to go back, too, if my schedule lets me. I’ve always wanted to visit my home and experience what my parents went through living in Vietnam. I’m hoping I can visit this summer, but if not,I will live vicariously through my mother.

I’ll be spending today with my family and hope you all have a wonderful day. And to those who are celebrating, I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
