I decided to give BirchBox another try because it was buy a subscription, get a second box for free so two boxes for the price of $10? Why not. And their boxes are cute, Iâll admit.
Shipping took about a week after I got the email that it shipped. My tracking number said it was supposed to be delivered by the 27th but I received it by the 22nd, so that was good!
Anyway, because I knew it was going to be a box inside a box, I wasnât disappointed. I got a bigger package just because there were two boxes inside, so A+ for keeping my package safe! I think presentation is important.
I opened the box and saw two different colored boxes. One was the obvious one that I knew and the second one was the surprise one that they wouldnât show you on the website.
I opened the orange box and inside was a beautiful little box. The design of the box changes every month and I wasnât disappointed by this monthâs box design. Itâs cute, donât you agree?
The give samples I received are LOC One & Done Shadow Stick â Ready Steady, IPKN Flash Cream Radiant Primer, Organic Pharmacy Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream, Rene Furterer Lumicia Shampoo and Conditioner.
Automatically, I was upset with this monthâs samples. I received the Rene Furterer Lumicia Shampoo and Conditioner LAST MONTH, as seen in this POST. Arenât you supposed to get different samples every month? Not the same ones? I was annoyed because I purposely resubscribe for new products and what do I receive? The same ones!! I was highly upset and was like, âI resubscribed for this bullshit?â I didnât like the shampoo and conditioner â I mean, they didnât give me enough to make a full judgment but at the end of the day, from what I used, it wasnât the best. The only reason I wasnât too too upset with this box was because I got a surprise one for free.
I used the IPKN Flash Cream Radiant Primer the next day. I didnât really radiant my face or give me a glow but it did help my makeup to last long. The primer is really creamy. When I first touched it, I thought it was lotion or face cream, but I like how soft it is. Itâs easy to apply and easy to rub on my face, easy to spread and dries within a couple minutes. I like it. Itâs soft and not drying whatsoever. It helped my makeup to last long but it didnât last throughout the day. It didnât last long into the night. I think this primer is great for a few hours, so if youâre going out for few hours, this primer is good! I wouldnât use it for all day/all night use!
I used the Organic Pharmacy Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream and I genuinely like it. It doesnât make me oily or dry. It does make my face soft. It doesnât make me âradiantâ but I do think it awakens my skin and makes it softer. Iâve only used it a couple times and I have no complaints so far. I think this works well with all types of skin. It was easy to apply and it was soft on my face.
Finally, I used LOC One & Done Shadow Stick â Ready Steady. I used it on my waterline as âeyelinerâ because I didnât want to use it as eyeshadow, even though thatâs what itâs for. But it lasted me throughout the day, did not smudge, did not fade away. It was easy to apply and I like how it was a shimmery kind of color, hence why I used it for my waterline instead of as âeyeshadowâ. Iâll use it again as eyeshadow but as a waterline eyeliner, it was pretty good! I genuinely liked this product.
I would give this box a review of 6/10, only because I received two of the same products I did last month.
I also received this cute mirror. It was part of the regular birchbox samples. It’s really tiny, but I think it’s cute.
I really liked the color of the surprise box. Pink is my favorite color. When I ripped it open, there was another box but colorful and bright. It was completely different from the regular monthly boxes, but nonetheless, I was in love. (I think I only like Birchbox for the packaging.)
The samples I received in this surprise box are dr. brandt PoreDermabrasion, Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil, Elizabeth Mott Itâs So Big Volumizing Mascara, Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches with Soothing Cornflower, Living proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream, and their No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner.
These were all new products for me, all new brands to me.
I tried the Living proof No Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner. It wasnât a lot since it was a sample but it was enough for my thick long hair. Both the Shampoo and Conditioner smell like oranges. (Or I think itâs oranges. My boyfriend said it smelled fruity but he couldnât pin point which fruit.) I normally donât like anything scented but I really like this scent. Itâs probably because I love oranges, but nonetheless, it smelled good. It was easy to apply and I didnât have a hard time washing the product off. After I showered and air dried my hair, my hair was soft but it did NOT stop the frizz. I still had frizzy hair when I was in my house and outside. Iâm convinced that no hair product will ever work on my hair. It made my hair soft at the top of my head but it did not take the frizziness away, which was a disappointed because it says No Frizz. My hair was static-y as well, but a soft static-y. I donât know if I was supposed to maintain my hair with these products and use it every single day but I only had enough for one wash. I will buy the full product and make a judgment later but for now, it didnât do anything to my hair but make it soft.
I used the Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches with Soothing Cornflower next. Itâs supposed to help with my under eyes whether itâs heavy eye bags or dark circles. This was my first time using an under eye treatment so I at first didnât know what to do until my sister saw me struggling and said I was putting it on wrong. I didnât feel uncomfortable wearing it but it didnât exactly stick to my face. If I moved, I felt the patches coming off so I had to continuously tap on them to stick. After 20 minutes, I took it off and it made my eyes softer. But the next day, I realized the eye patches made me break out. A bump appeared on my under eyes and it was because of these eye patches. I was disappointed because I thought it was going to work and help reduce dark eye circle but instead, it made me break out. I mean, one bump isnât breaking out but I didnât want to risk it. I donât plan on buying another one of these products. Iâm open to other eye patches but not this one.
Next, I used the dr. brandt PoreDermabrasion. I was disappointed because there was barely any product in it. I understand itâs just a sample but even the samples I received in Lush and Sephora have products in them. I had to squeeze the bottle to pop out some product on my hand. It was annoying. Fill up your sample bottles with more product, please!! Â But it did not help my pores whatsoever. It did not unclog them. My pores stayed exactly the same. I think I need more product for a full review but for the couple times that I have used this product, it did nothing for me.
After I applied my makeup, I used the Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil. I used it on my under eyes after all of my makeup and it did help to radiant my eyes. It did help make my face glow and it made my eyes open up! It made my eyes glow and it helped to make me look alive and awakened. I have combination skin and it didnât make me oily whatsoever. I have dry under eyes and it helped to make my eyes glow and look better! I will continue to use it.
I used the Elizabeth Mott Itâs So Big Volumizing Mascara. It did not lengthen or thicken my eyelashes, but I do like how it doesnât clump or flake. I used A LOT of the product and it didnât make my eyelashes clumpy whatsoever. I used this on the bottom of my lashes and it did smudge, which sucked but thatâs probably because I put a lot. BUT it didnât smudge for my top lashes so thatâs good! I like this mascara for the non-clumpiness but not for lengthening or thickening my lashes because it did nothing for my lashes!
Finally, I used the Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream. It helped to make my hair stay in place and it helped with my frizzy hair. It helped to make my hair look alive. The cream itself is soft and easy to apply. It didnât take long to dry and it didnât make my hair hardened or dry whatsoever. I do plan on using this because it helped my hair without hardening it, drying it or killing it. It helped to make my hair look alive, stay soft and to stop the frizziness. It do recommend this!
I think the secret box was decent so I give this a 6/10. I hated half of the product but liked the other half.
In general, for this entire month of subscription, I give it a 6/10. I was disappointed in getting the SAME products but I liked some of them. I ended my subscription for good and will resubscribe if I get a second box for free!
Been wanting to try this. Thank you for the review.
