Another Montreal post. One of the places that my sister and I visited was a church.
My sister and I visited this place called St. Joseph’s Oratory. We visited this place on a Sunday during Easter. Not our best decision but we honestly didn’t realize it was Sunday and we completely forgot when Easter was. The day we went, there was so much traffic that there were numerous police officers escorting all of the cars. Parking was hard to find but there was a police officer who found one for us.
Everybody was dressed up so my sister and I were pretty under-dressed. Everybody looked gorgeous. The place was huge. They had a huge parking lot but they did have a lot of stairs. We walked up a couple set of stairs and I was exhausted! I’m totally out of shape so even walking up one flight of stairs gets me burned out.
Thankfully, when we went inside the church, there were escalators. We went all the way to the top and went inside the service. We were a little nervous because we didn’t know what we were doing or what to do. The service was in French so we didn’t know what everyone was saying. We didn’t take any photos inside the church because we didn’t want to be disrespectful. We did leave after 20 minutes because we couldn’t understand what was going on.
There was a gift shop at the church but we didn’t visit it. We found an exit close to the service and honestly, walking down the stairs is a lot easier than walking up. (Obviously, haha) The view at the top of the church was beautiful though. It wasn’t a view of the entire Montreal city but it was still a nice view. Across the street from the church was a university and IT WAS HUGE. We weren’t able to go because there was still traffic and police officers escorting everyone. Our rental car was from New York so everybody knew we were tourists.
It was easy leaving than it was to enter the church. Although we felt awkward at the service, we were glad that we went anyway. The church inside and outside was beyond gorgeous. And I loved how dressed up everyone was and I loved how everybody was celebrating their love for Jesus. It was really nice to see everyone bond.
