Ideas to Decorate the House for the Holidays

With Christmas and New Year’s around the corner, it is now the time to decorate the house. Some of you may have already decorated the house already but this is simply for those of you who are last-minute decorators (like me) so for today’s Blogmas With Linda, here are ideas to decorate the house for the holidays.

One idea is to decorate the front door. A lot of people have holiday wreaths and welcome mats to make their front door welcoming and holiday-esque. Adding a wreath to the front door or even a Christmas welcome mat is a great way to make the front of the house look welcoming with Christmas spirit. Welcome mats can be snowmen, Santa Clause or just anything Christmas-esque.

To decorate the front house, one idea is to have those cute little balloons/blow up dolls that people place in front of the house. This can be the little blow up balloons or the ones that are electrical. You can decorate it with snowmen, Santa Claus, reindeer, or anything like that. If you have a fence, you can also decorate it with Christmas lights to keep the house welcoming with Christmas spirit.

Another idea is if you have fireplace, you can hang stockings above the firepit or around it if you’re scared that the stockings may fall over into the firepit. This is a cute way to get the firepit and living room looking festive and cozy. You can also decorate above the firepit with small ornaments or snowglobes.

Of course, decorating the house means including a Christmas tree. Most people put it in the living room but you can put it anywhere that makes sense for you. I think the Christmas tree is the most important decoration since all the presents will go underneath it. You can also decorate the tree with different lights, decorations, and ornaments.

Another simple idea is adding Christmas bows to the top of your doors to make it look festive. So any door in your house, you can put a festive bow on it to make it cute. If you don’t want a Christmas bow, you can choose to put a wreath instead.

If you have stairs in your home, you can decorate the railings with bows and ribbons to make it look festive as well.

You can also decorate any chairs that you have in your home with Christmas seat covers. This is such a cute way to make even the smallest things look festive and fun!

Another way to decorate the house is by decorating your dining tables or any tables that you have, such a cricket table, which can hold some of your unique ornaments and even a few gifts. You can decorate it by placing Christmas candles, Christmas placemats, Christmas coasters and even temporarily switching plates to Christmas plates and Christmas cups.

Decorating the house can also include putting up snowflakes all over the house. These snowflakes would be reuseable snowflakes and not the ones that are sticker-like and would rip the paint off your walls. They’ll be similar to bows that you can hang but snowflakes instead.

Another idea to decorate the house is by using paper lanterns. Of course, keep these away from the firepit. These paper lanterns would be hanging from your ceiling. They can be snowflakes, mistletoes, anything festive and fun!

Adding garland around the house is a perfect way to make the house look festive as well. Garland here, garland there, garland everywhere!

Although these are only a few ideas, they are still fun and perfect for decorating the house for the holidays.

Let me know in the comments below how you’re decorating your house and I would love to include it in the list.

I’ll see you tomorrow for another day of Blogmas With Linda.
