If there’s one emotion that has dominated most of our lives and experiences throughout 2020 and 2021, most people would say that this emotion would be stress. These have been a particularly difficult couple of years and the vast majority of us have experienced more stress throughout them than we usually would on a day to day basis. This is all due to the coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic. This pandemic has seen us have to face up to a whole host of problems, ranging from losing loved ones, dealing with sickness, helping loved ones through sickness, loss of jobs, redundancies, reduced working hours, reduced wages, financial struggle, social isolation, loneliness and much more. Whether we’ve been affected by the virus itself or the guidelines that governments have put into place to try to slow the spread of the virus, you may be finding that you’re struggling with stress and are looking for ways to reduce your experience of it. To help keep you positive, here are a few suggestions that may be able to help you along the way.

Tackle The Problems That You Can

There are some things that we are unable to change. We can’t change that there is a pandemic. We can’t be sure when it will end. But at the same time, there are steps that you can take to help. Follow government guidelines. Stay in where possible. Wear a mask and keep your distance from others when you do go out. Wash and sanitise your hands regularly. Next, you can look at other problems that you can tackle. If you are feeling lonely, use video calls to get in touch with friends or family. If you are struggling financially, reach out to lenders and let them know your situation – they may be able to remove interest, fees and fines from your debt. Check what schemes can support you. If you’re stressed, try CBD edibles, calming teas or relaxation techniques like meditation and mindfulness.

Seek Support

If you find that you can’t cope with the amount of stress you’re feeling and are really beginning to struggle, you need to know that there are many sources of support out there for you. These can include support groups, helplines, advisors charities and more. Start out by consulting your doctor, who may diagnose an underlying mental health condition that’s worsening your stress or that is becoming worsened by your stress. They can also guide you along a path that will help to improve your condition or that can help you to healthily manage your condition. This could include medication, therapy or a combination of the two approaches. Just remember that you are not alone and that people can help.

Hopefully, some of the above information will help you throughout this journey that we’re all going through. Keep it in the back of your mind for when you may need it. Different approaches will work for different people, but you will eventually find something that really helps you!
