Doing things the same way as everyone else can work sometimes. But if you want to make your outfits sing, it’s almost always best to go against the grain.

That’s where this post can help. We take a look at some of the lesser-known items you want to have in your wardrobe and how they can transform your attire, making you feel like a whole new you! Here’s what you should be including:

A Statement Belt

Top of the list of loud accessories is the statement belt. These are wider (and often have more bling) than conventional belts and pair beautifully with dresses, gowns, and long sweaters, tucking in at the waist to enhance your figure.

Once you have a statement belt, you can instantly add polish to your outfits. Adding a nice belt instantly upgrades you from casual to smart-casual, or from smart-casual to smart. And it’s such a simple trick.

A Bandana

Another cool accessory to keep in your wardrobe is the humble bandana. You can use this for all sorts of purposes, whether you want to tie your hair back or keep it out of the sun on a hot day.

Once you get accustomed to bandanas, you quickly see how versatile they are. You can use these accessories to tie your hair in a knot, wrap it around your neck, or wear it as a snood, or simply as a bag adornment.

A Unique Cap

You also want a unique cap in your wardrobe to accessorize casual or urban outfits for nights out or days shopping. These immediately add some edge and attitude to your style, instantly grabbing attention and forcing everyone to look at you.

Go for something unusual, like a corduroy 6-panel cap. Wearing a cap that’s a little different can help differentiate you from everyone else and make you stand out. Choose a non-standard color so you can contrast it with your outfits and create more visual interest.

A Chunky Necklace

You might also want to invest in a chunky necklace. These are always fantastic if you’re the sort of person who loves texture and volume.

A big necklace with a lot of rocks can help to make your clothes seem more dramatic. You can use them to turn conventional wardrobe items into something everyone wants to wear. (Who knows, you could start a trend!)

A Vintage Brooch

For a little sophistication, you might also want to add a vintage brooch to your wardrobe. These can be a great addition to work clothes or if you just want something a little different from everyone else.

Brooches often come with a lot of character and history. That’s why it can be fun to find out more about the item’s back story, including who wore it or made it.

Ankle Boots

If you thought we’d forgotten ankle boots, then sorry to disappoint you. These shoes are ultra-versatile (perhaps that’s why they’re so popular) and can go with work and leisure clothing. They also add to your femininity instantly, which is great for anyone who loves wearing dresses.
