Are You Missing These Sure Signs That Your Man Has Body Confidence Issues?

While we most often speak about body confidence concerning the female form, studies increasingly reveal that men experience this issue too. In fact, 85% of men report dissatisfaction with things like their muscularity.

Those are high figures, yet it’s surprising how few of us are aware of, or feel able to address, these insecurities for the men in our lives. Make sure body insecurity doesn’t get between your man and you by considering the following signs that he could have confidence issues, too.

He’s obsessed with physical ambitions

As women, we spend a lot of time comparing ourselves to others, but men do this too and, if you notice that he’s continually aspiring to, say, a more muscular physique, then your man may be struggling.

Obviously it’s crucial that you let him know what you love about his unique body in this instance. But, if he wants to take to the gym to bring his body image up to that standard, then you could go along with him to give him the confidence to hit his goals. Equally, if he wants to get a more masculine chest than the gym is affording him, then you could research his options together, and attend any appointments about surgical procedures that could help him to do that. That way, he’ll feel supported in his choices, and ultimately more confident in his body as a result.

He hides his body from you

In a couple, both parties should feel comfortable being naked in front of one another. But, if he keeps his top on even in bed and gets funny if you catch him in the shower, then body confidence issues are probably at play.

Revealing your own body in full could help to build all-important trust in the face of this issue. You should also pay him regular compliments about the areas that he most often keeps hidden. Without making him openly admit to insecurities that he might find embarrassing, this is a gentle approach to providing him with a supportive environment to build his confidence in key areas.

He’s funny about touch

You may hate it when he touches that soft spot on your stomach, but if he has insecurities of his own, you may also notice a few no-touch areas that you should probably steer clear of. If he flinches each time you touch his upper arms, for instance, or hates you going near his stomach, then you should respect that.

If you breach those boundaries, he’ll soon start to feel uncomfortable getting physical with you. And that will only lead to additional insecurities and barriers. Instead, always ask him what he’s comfortable with, respect that, and gently tell him what you love most about those areas that worry him.

Overcoming male body confidence issues requires support, and, as his partner, you’re the best person to offer that support. So, make sure that you don’t miss these telltale signs of your man’s insecurities, and verse yourself in how to deal with it when you do notice male body confidence issues rearing their ugly head.
