It’s unfortunate to say, but for many of us, attention spans have been reduced. This is because smartphone use and short-form video content, not to mention social media, have given us such constant novelty that long-form activities like reading books or even watching an entire film without reaching for our device can be harder than it seems.

If you feel distracted and unfocused, you may wonder exactly how to resolve the issue. After all, it’s not pleasant to feel like you can’t really focus on your hobbies as you once did, be that putting together a great outfit, enjoying cooking a home meal, or writing in your journal.

If you’ve started to feel a little distracted and unfocused, you may be wondering where to even begin. Never fear, because in this post we’ll discuss how to take that next step and retrain your focus, without having to limit those other hobbies you enjoy, such as reading blogs, following your favorite online creators, or keeping up with your social media accounts:

Consider Stress & Sleep

Stress and sleep (or a lack of it) are absolutely considered the two largest and most impactful issues causing people to struggle with their focus. If this seems to be the case for you, such as going through a difficult familial experience or struggling to stay asleep at night, it could be that focusing on these two measures could be helpful. If you’re having trouble with both, visiting your physician could be ideal. They might recommend herbal sleepiness tablets like valerian root, or refer you to more in-depth treatment.

Commit To Attention-Training Activities

It’s important to commit to attention-training activities that could help you get back to your previous focused approach to life. That might involve reading books and switching your phone to silent, while placing it at the other side of the room. Reading for thirty minutes is nothing once you regularly do it, and it can help your concentration in many other areas of life on top of that. You can also focus on meditation if it helps, as these practices are designed to help your focus and attention in the healthiest way. Also, going for longer walks in nature without headphones can be a good method of taking in your surroundings. It’s about disconnecting from constant novelty and elongating your focus – a skill we could all benefit from.

Reduce Sugar & Caffeine

Sugar and caffeine content can make anyone distracted because if consumed in larger quantities jittery feelings and a sense of discomfort can take center stage. Even if this has never particularly bothered you before, caffeine is a real addiction, and as we get older we can react to different foods in different ways, especially desert treats and high sugar which affects our glucose and can often lead to a sugar crash. That’s why it’s important to pay attention to anything you consume on a daily basis, even your health supplements like 9-Me-BC Powder, and make sure they’re still relevant to your health goals.

WIth this advice, we hope you can return to feeling focused and attentive, as opposed to jittery and uncomfortable.
