Boosting Your Health From the Inside

Life is super busy and can often leave you feeling a little run down. And that run down, tired, grogginess can impact your work and daily life. There are, however, so many things you can do to get yourself refreshed and renewed to tackle life at full speed again. Of course, before you add anything into your diet, you should talk with a pharmacist and ensure they use the Beers List of Medications to give you the right guidance.

Colds?

If you find that you are getting colds a little too often, then chances are you need some immunity support. If you are already taking a multivitamin, then that’s great – but you can add more goodness into your body. Ginger, lemon, and rosemary are known for their immunity-boosting properties. Combine them with a warm chamomile tea and a spot of honey each evening, and you’ll boost your immune system. You can have this hot or cold. Many people have this when they already have a cold to help soothe their throats and get rid of the cold a little bit quicker. But daily will give more benefits.

Energy

If you have a busy day ahead and want to feel pepped up and ready to go, then a homemade energy drink is perfect. It has a zingy lemon flavors and a hit of caffeine too. Here is how you make it:

1 Cup boiling water

1 Yerba maté tea bags

2 green tea bags

Honey to taste

½ lemon squeezed for juice

Ice cubes

Mint

Steep the tea bags in the water, add in your honey and lemon. Add enough ice cubes to cool the drink and top with mint.

Anti-Inflammatory

If you find you have aches and pains as you go about your daily life, it might be time to tackle the inflammation. Smoothies are traditionally pretty thick, and best taken in the morning. This one is no different.

1 cup of kefir

1 cup frozen cherries

½ cup ripe and mashed avocado

1 tablespoon almond butter (salted)

A small thumb of ginger, peeled

½ cup spinach

Pinch of chia seeds.

To make it is super simple, you pop all of the ingredients (apart from the chia seeds) into a blender and blend until smooth. Top with chia seeds, and drink while fresh.

Pep In Your Step

Not everyone wants to drink smoothies and teas. Many people much prefer to have a nice big bowl of something that you can really feel working. If you are going to have a fruit salad then look for one, or make one with the following items:

  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Nuts
  • Citrus Fruits
  • Cantaloupe

Alternatively, if you love something a bit more savory, then a big salad bowl is going to help raise those energy and health levels. Try to include the following tasty items:

  • Peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Spinach
  • Beans
  • Salmon

Any of the above makes the perfect snack too. Millions of us have a deficit in more than one vitamin or mineral, so the next time you are wondering ‘what gives?’, think about your diet and what you can add to improve it.
