Use A Soft Toothbrush

Another easy tip for relief from sensitive teeth is to swap your toothbrush for a softer one. If your toothbrush has stiff bristles, it could be making your sensitivity problem worse. Stiff bristles are hard on your tooth enamel, making more holes and more sensitivity. They can also cause gum recession to get worse, which exposes more dentin and sensitive nerves. Instead, use a soft-bristled brush and brush gently to better protect your teeth and gums. 

Use A Mouthguard At Night

Sensitive teeth can be caused by grinding your teeth at night. This is known as bruxism. If you know you’re a tooth grinder, your dentist can take a mold of your teeth and make a custom mouth guard that you can wear at night while you sleep. The mouth guard will protect your teeth from the pressure of grinding and will help to prevent the damage that can be done to your teeth during the night. 

Have Your Gums Checked By A Dentist

Diseased or receding gums can be another big cause of sensitive teeth. As the tissue of the gums breaks down and moves away from the surface of the tooth, the parts of the teeth below the gum line that don’t have enamel can become exposed. This leaves the nerves unprotected, which can be very uncomfortable. Try A Salt Water Mouthwash

Make a mouthwash out of water and salt to reduce your sensitivity. This works as the salt balances out the pH level inside your mouth. This creates an alkaline environment, which reduces bacteria. It also helps to reduce plaque. You can make a saltwater mouthwash very easily by adding two teaspoons of salt to a cup of warm water. Use the rinse morning and evening, until your tooth sensitivity improves.
