  1. Embrace mindful eating. Check in with your appetite to help you eat better and enjoy your food. Sit down at the table to eat instead of in front of the television. Chew your food, instead of trying to wolf it down. Pay attention to the flavours and savour your food. This will help you to notice how hungry you actually are, making you less likely to overeat.
  2. Put a drop of lavender oil on a tissue inside your pillowcase before you to sleep. The oil uses basic aromatherapy to help you relax, and sleep a little easier. Sleep is a health essential.
  3. Make sure you’re registered with a primary care doctor that you like and trust. Your doctor will your first port of call for any health concerns, so it’s important that you feel able to tell them about any worries you have.
  4. Floss. Dental care is very important, and flossing cares your gums and makes your whole mouth feel much cleaner.
  5. If you spend a lot of your day looking at backlit screens, whether phones or computer screens, look after your eyes by taking screen breaks. For every twenty minutes you spend looking at a screen, look away for twenty seconds at an object over twenty feet.
  6. Try meditation. It’s important to invest time in your mental health as well as your physical health. Meditation, if only for a few minutes a day, gives you the time to focus on your breathing and relax. If you’re new to the practice, try a guided meditation app to learn the basics.
  7. Stretch. If you’re sitting at a desk all day, it’s even more important to ease your muscles. Spend a few minutes to stretch your muscles out to release tension and avoid soreness.
  8. If you catch the train or bus to work, get off a stop early and walk the rest of the way. This is a great way to sneak in some extra steps every day and get some fresh air. If you work in an office all day, walking some of the way means you get to be outside in some daylight for a short while, instead of being inside all day.
  9. Go to bed earlier. Sleep is one of the best cures for stress, and if you’re not getting enough of it, your health will suffer. Instead of sitting up late every night watching TV, try and get to bed a little earlier. Even just an hour earlier can make a lot of difference in making you feel well rested.
  10. Check your posture at your desk. Set up your desk in an ergonomic way, to encourage to sit properly. Proper posture protects your back, reducing aches, pains and discomforts.
