Flakey Skin

Flakey skin isn’t something that any of us want. It looks horrible, and it can be itchy and uncomfortable as well, and don’t even get me started on the fact that you can end up leaving flakes behind which is super embarrassing!

Flaky skin is usually a reaction to an infection or some other type of damage, causing the top layer to slough off and revealing the later of epidermis underneath. This flaking can happen when you get a severe sunburn, or because you have an ongoing skin condition such as dermatitis.

Luckily, if these causes are responsible for your flaky skin, you will be pleased to know that it means is that there are actions that can be taken to deal with it. One such action includes keeping your skin as moisturized as possible. To do this is can be useful to use an intensive and long-lasting moisturizing cream. In particularly nasty cases choose one that is unperfumed and medicated too, as this will help prevent further skin irritation leading to flakiness.

It is also important to hydrate your body from the inside out, as the flaky skin can be a sign of extreme dehydration that has been occurring over an extended period. Also protecting your skin from damaging UVA and UVB rays no matter what your skin tone is vital in the quest for flake-free skin. Ear wax

Next, as if you haven’t been grossed out enough by the thought of flaky skin, now we are going to discuss ear wax! Ear wax is a substance that is made up mainly of fat. Its purpose is to protect the ear canal and prevents infections and particulates entering the inner ear. A bit like how mucus protects the nose and lungs.

The issue with ear wax is that is can get out of whack and cause problems with your hearing. In fact, if you have too much, it can get stuck together and reduce the power of the vibrations that reach the ear follicle in the cochlea. What this means is that you can’t hear as well as you would if your ear were clear of the wax. To that end, it can be useful to know how to remove ear wax safely.

However, it is with noting that removing ear wax must be done carefully. Otherwise, you can end up causing more problems that you are solving. With this in mind, why not get your audiologist to do it for you as they will have advanced equipment including cameras that can locate any wax blockage and painlessly de-compact them. It is, of course, possible to remove ear wax at home, but it should be done with oil drops rather than the ever-popular but dangerous cue tips that most folks use. The reason for this being that they can strip the good protection away with the excess wax and leave you more vulnerable to infections in the long run.

Bad breath

No one likes to think that friends and family have to take a step back during a conversation because of their bad breath. Unfortunately, halitosis as its often known can be problematic for many people regardless of their age, gender, or ethnicity.

If you are struggling with this problem, then the best thing you can do is try and locate the source of your bad breath. It might be a throat or mouth infection that needs treatment with antibiotics. It could also be coming from rotting food stuck in between your teeth, something that can be reduced if not removed by using an air flosser as well as an electric toothbrush.

Halitosis may also be caused by problems with the teeth, such as untreated cavities, or it can even be due to lifestyle issues. For example, smoking, eating lots of refined sugar, and drinking coffee and alcohol can all disrupt the PH balance in the mouth and make it an environment that is more conducive to bacterial growth that can cause nasty breath in the first place. That means cutting down on these items is essential if you want to banish bad breath from your life.
