Why Packing Light Can Make Your Travel Adventure So Much Better

If you always find yourself hauling around large hard-backed wheeled suitcases when you venture off on your travels, the chances are that this is negatively impacting on your adventure. Instead, you need to embrace the joys of traveling light. Venturing overseas or even hot footing it on a road trip can be the ultimate freedom. However, if you have the shackles of tons of luggage, you might not be able to run for that train, store your holdall away on a boat, or backpack in the South American jungle. Take a look at how you can swap your bulky baggage for a simple lightweight holdall.

Packing

You may assume that you cannot possibly pack everything you need in one backpack. However, you will be surprised. If you opt for a forty liter front-loading backpack, the amount you can put in there is on a par with a normal suitcase. Being front-loading, you don’t have to worry about having to rifle to the bottom of the bag to locate your valuables. Consider what it is that you need to pack. You don’t need to take a month’s worth of clothes with you. Instead, consider a week’s worth of gear that you can wash along the way. Roll instead of fold and you will see the space in your backpack open up. Store socks inside shoes and only take what you think you will need. You can always purchase other stuff along the way. There is something life-affirming about packing light.

Mobility

If you are venturing to Peru to trek the Inca Trail, it doesn’t make sense to take a cumbersome and unwieldy piece of luggage. A backpack is ideal as it is highly mobile. Whip it on your back and you can go anywhere with all of your belongings. You don’t have to rely on anyone else storing your luggage in the hold of a plane as you will be able to carry it on board and in the cabin with you. This added sense of security can make your travel plans a lot more stress-free.

If venturing to the land of Oz, consider a road trip with your lightweight backpack. When picking up your car hire in Perth’s CBD, you can pop your backpack in the back seat and away you go. You won’t need added rooftop storage and you can focus on the open road rather than fitting your massive suitcase into your swanky little convertible.

Gear

If you want to be a little bit off-grid, don’t forego the smartphone and GPS altogether. If you are venturing off the beaten track, keep these items on you at all times, just in case. A mobile charging pack is great for emergencies too. You can store these within your backpack in the hidden side pockets. This way, you can keep them safe and secure, and close to you are all time. Wheelie suitcases can break making them hard to maneuver. Your trusty backpack will be easy to move around even the harshest terrain on your travels.

Follow this guide and relish the opportunity to travel light.
