These days, many of us spend a lot of time sitting at our desks or computer doing our work. We live sedentary lifestyles and we’re forced to try and incorporate some physical activity into our daily routine in order to stay fit and healthy. One of the biggest problems that we face is bad posture. It’s a habit that we can easily develop as a result of sitting at our desk all of the time and it can lead to a number of issues such as back pain, poor circulation, and even digestion problems.

So in this post, we’re going to take a look at some of the biggest signs that you might have poor posture and offer some advice on how to fix the problem.

Rounded shoulders

Rounded shoulders is when your spine and next are connected in a smooth shape instead of being straight. For example, when you bend your head down to look at your phone, you’re bending your neck and causing your shoulders to be rounded. This can happen when you encounter stressful situations but it can also occur regularly if you use a laptop or smartphone often. One of the best ways to fix this is to raise your device to eye level so that you’re less likely to bend your neck down.

Forward head carriage

Forward head carriage is a common sign of bad posture. It refers to how far your head goes in retaliation to the rest of your body. If people have mentioned to you that your head tends to stick out forward, then you could have developed bad posture.

Flat feet

People that have flat feet might find it difficult to maintain a healthy posture due to the way the foot arch collapses against the ground. People with flat feet often face ankle, knee, and hip-related problems which can ultimately affect their posture, especially if they exercise and regularly work our those body parts. This can be fixed in a number of ways but requires a proper diagnosis from a doctor and additional support to help develop better posture habits to compensate for your flat feet.

Improving your bad posture

There are a number of different ways to fix your bad posture. For example, you could try a tool such as a biofeedback posture trainer. This is something that you’d do at home and can help encourage you to break bad habits that are negatively affecting your posture. Another great option would be to speak to your physician and ask them for a referral to a chiropractor. Your doctor could also give you some general advice on how to improve your posture before referring you to a specialist.

In general, improving your posture isn’t impossible but it’s much easier to do when you’re still in the process of developing bad habits. Since you can break those habits and fix your posture, you have a much better chance of preventing any of those problems from occurring. However, if you wait too long, then it’s going to cause more problems in the future.
